We envision a time when Ross Montessori School will be an exemplary educational institution and recognized as such all over the world. Educators from all backgrounds will observe and learn from our model, grounded in the Montessori Method. Parents will choose our school over any other with a steadfast belief in the value we create for the children, families, and communities we serve.

 

Our children will be immersed in the joy of discovery. Programming will be enriched with art, music, and drama through all the seasons. Students will actively participate in community service projects and conservation programs, and every child will emerge a creative and competent problem solver.

 

We will send citizens into the world who profoundly impact their communities. They will face adversity and challenges with humility, grace, and compassion. They will inspire others to better the Earth and its inhabitants. All who know them will be better for it for generations.

Sonya Hemmen, Ed.D., has over three decades of experience in public education. She speaks Spanish and holds a  Master's degree in Educational Leadership and an American Montessori Society credential in Montessori Leadership. She has Colorado licensure as a K-12 Spanish teacher, principal, and superintendent. A member of the Strategic Leadership Team, she is humbled daily with new learning. Sonya loves spending time with her family, photography, travel, reading, and research. She manages the Annual Fund and the Development Planning for Mark Ross Montessori Foundation and can sometimes even be seen driving the school bus. Her favorite Montessori quote is, "The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say 'the children are working as if I do not exist."
