School Closures and Delays

The Head of School, in coordination with the Transportation Manager, will make the decision to cancel school and will almost always follow the guidance of Roaring Fork School District. When the decision is made to close or delay the start of school for any reason, faculty, staff, and families will receive official notification from Ross Montessori via textand social media. Notice will be posted on Ross Facebook and Instagram, Facebook for Carbondale Rural Fire Department, Facebook for Anuncios Latinos Público, CSI, 9 News, KMTS, and Radio Tricolor.

Safety is the primary consideration in deciding to hold or close school.

Delayed Start (2-Hour Delay)

When needed, Ross offers a 2-hour delay.

The staff and the community are notified via text, email, and social media. The target notification time is no later than 5:30 a.m. on the designated Delayed Start day. Sometimes, the call is made the evening before.

Once a Delayed Start has been called students will arrive at 11:00 a.m. Morning bus service will be delayed by two (2) hours. Simply add 2 hours to the typical morning schedule.

After starting the school day on a 2-hour delay, all other events will proceed according to the typical schedule. For example, lunch, recess, and enrichment schedules will continue as normal. Hot lunch will be available.

We will still dismiss at the typical time on those days and follow the regular after-school bus route times.
